Splash-In

The Balearic Islands have always been a historical exponent in the Mediterranean. Our privileged situation, from the times of the Phoenicians to the present day, means that the islanders have received influences from all our surroundings. Perhaps for this reason, it has made us many times enterprising in looking for alternatives that serve to alleviate our insularity.

In May 1928 the name of Pollensa leapt to the press all over the world, on the occasion of landing in the bay the sixty-one hydroplanes that formed six squadrons, which constituted the Aerobrigata under the command of General Francesco de Pinedo, and carrying as passenger to the Minister of Air of Italy, Italo Balbo, who carried out the Journey of the Western Mediterranean. The Italian aviators were received and attended by their Spanish colleagues from Military Aviation and Naval Aeronautics in the Bay of Pollensa. The next day they continued their trip to Los Alcazares.
